About Stella Hurtt

Born and raised in Meridian, Mississippi, Stella Hurtt is a native Mississippian. As a young child, Stella had a passion and heart for assisting people in need. Soon, that passion developed into assisting individuals with legal issues. After graduating in 2005 from West Lauderdale High School, Stella attended East Central Community College (ECCC) where she earned her Associate’s Degree in 2007, majoring in Business Administration. While attending ECCC, Stella was a member of the Wall O’ Sound Marching Band.

After graduating ECCC, Stella attended Mississippi State University at the Meridian Campus where she earned her Bachelor’s of Business Administration Degree in 2009. While attending MSU-Meridian, Stella assisted in reviving the Students for Advancement of Management Club (SAM) and served as President for 2 years. Under her leadership, the SAM Club hosted an annual Etiquette Workshop each year to assist in preparing graduates, students, and community members to enter the workforce. While at MSU-Meridian, Stella also served as the Attorney General for the Student Body Association and participated in multiple community outreach programs. Stella’s accolades while at MSU-Meridian include the Women In Leadership award and the Spirit of State award.

After graduating MSU-Meridian, Stella attended The University of Mississippi School of Law where she distinguished herself both in and out of the classroom. As a law student, Stella was admitted to practice law within the State as a student attorney under the Mississippi Limited Practice Act. Stella practiced law within the Elder Law Division of The University of Mississippi School of Law Civil Legal Clinic, through North Mississippi Rural Legal Services, where she assisted in the legal representation of low income individuals in Estate and other Elder Law matters. Stella also volunteered and assisted low income individuals under the direction of licensed attorneys through the Pro Bono Clinic with various civil matters.  While at Ole Miss Law, Stella served as President of Christian Legal Society, was a member of the Business Law Society, and was co-editor of the yearbook. Stella received her Juris Doctor degree in May 2012.

After graduating law school and being admitted to the Mississippi Bar Association, Stella began her career as a solo practitioner by opening her own firm in her hometown of Meridian, Mississippi. She is currently a general practitioner but focuses in the areas of Family Law (divorce, child custody and support, guardianships, adoptions, and more), Wills and Estates, Real Estate (including closings and title searches), DUI/DWI’s, and Landlord/Tenant issues.

Stella is a member of several professional associations, including the Lauderdale County Young Lawyers, Lauderdale County Bar Association, Mississippi Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. Stella also provides volunteer work as a pro bono attorney. Stella is licensed in the State of Mississippi and practices law in all 82 counties.

Stella is dedicated to providing affordable legal service and prides herself on following Proverbs 31:8-9 “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” Stella loves spending time with her family and enjoys the beautiful outdoors.
